All processing requests must be submitted by December 11, 2020 in order to be processed before we close for the winter break. In addition, the ISSO will not be offering scheduled appointments from December 14 - January 15 as we prepare to upgrade iComet.

iComet Upgrade

In December and January, the ISSO is upgrading iComet to the newest version. During this transition, advising appointments will be limited as we train our staff and migrate services to the new system. Watch our Facebook and Instagram for more information in the coming weeks.

Not All On-Campus Employment is Allowed for F-1 Students

On-campus employment options depend on where the work is physically located and who the employer is. F-1 students may work on campus, employed by UT Dallas, or by on-campus commercial firms that directly serve the UT Dallas student population (Chartwells, University Bookstore, etc). Positions with third parties not providing services directly to students (alumni call center) or personal services for faculty or staff (housekeeping, lawn care) is not allowed. Refer to information on the F-1 Student Employment page for more information.

Travelling for the holidays?

The current pandemic situation has created some unique challenges with travelling internationally. Please keep in mind that travelers from certain countries may be restricted from entering the U.S., and these restrictions may continue to change. Please also keep in mind that even if no formal restrictions exist, outbound and inbound flights between some countries may not be available. The university will follow guidelines from CDC regarding quarantine requirements for arriving in the U.S. after travel abroad, which is subject to change. Take care when planning international travel during this time. For more details about documents to carry with you when travelling, please see the ISSO webpage on Travel Outside the U.S.

You can request a travel-endorsed I-20, submit a travel endorsement request through the iComet Portal. The I-20 will be sent to your UT Dallas email address. You can print it and sign it to use while travelling. This I-20 is appropriate for re-entry to the U.S. Review the ISSO webpage on Travel Outside the U.S. for detailed information on what documents to carry with you when you travel.
