UT Dallas Whooshes into East and West Africa
October 22, 2024
The University of Texas at Dallas International Center recently made a significant impact in East and West Africa, following the launch of the UTD Africa Office in Lagos on July 18. From September 10–19, UT Dallas representatives embarked on a mission to showcase the university’s offerings at the EducationUSA Big Five College Fair, visiting Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria.
Josephine Vitta, Senior Director of the International Center, and Princewill Attai, Senior Manager for Outreach and Recruitment for UTD Africa, played a pivotal role in promoting UT Dallas as a premier choice for African students. Their efforts highlighted the university’s diverse academic programs and robust student support services designed to ensure a successful educational experience.
The trip included a series of impactful activities, such as attending EducationUSA college fairs where they engaged with prospective students eager to learn about the opportunities at UT Dallas. The team also networked with representatives from U.S. Embassies, fostering important connections that will enhance the university’s outreach in the region.
Additionally, Josephine and Princewill participated in information sessions led by consular staff in both Ghana and Nigeria, providing valuable insights into the admissions process and the unique experiences awaiting students at UT Dallas. A highlight of the visit was a tour of Nile University in Abuja, Nigeria, where they explored potential partnerships and collaboration opportunities.
“Overall, the EducationUSA Africa Tour was a success, allowing UT Dallas to connect with prospective students in key African countries. Our participation in the college fairs enhanced understanding of our programs and admissions processes, demonstrating our commitment to supporting African students on their educational journeys.”
